Weekly Update Questions.

How much time did you spend on your project?
I have spent around five hours on my project this week. I did a lot of planning with Ian Dezelan this week. We discussed general idea's and who to recruit as a cast to help us on our projects. Since this is my first week of doing my project, I say this is pretty good progress. I have also been doing a lot of hands on research, like what I am currently reading "Make Your Own Damn Movie" by Lloyd Kaufman.

What did you do for hands-on?
Well, as for hands-on working, I did a lot of just general planning. These include discussing skit ideas, where to get costumes, and viewing great locations for filming. I also just fooled around with camera angles and my basic editing skills.

What Research did you do?
As far as research goes, I just used youtube to watch tutorial videos on editing, such as this one.

Also, as I mentioned, I've been reading "Make Your Own Damn Movie" by Lloyd Kaufman.

Did you meet with your mentor? What did you talk about?
Yes, I met with my mentor, Mr. Byrne. We just settled on a meeting time, so I could be exited. We will talk about real things the monday morning I get back from break.

Were you in class this week?
Yes, I was, everyday, to get exited and for red flag days.

What do you think your fulfillment of WISE requirements was?

I think that it was Good. At first it was going kind of slow, but I had a lot of time this week, so I did a lot of research and hands on work. It's coming together, and really kicking off.

What are your plans for next week?

Look at my two week plan! I'll be in South Carolina :). Yee-haw!

Growth.

As a film maker, it is always important t0 look back at old videos and footage. This is so you can see what you did right, and what you did wrong. Let's take a look at clips from my sophomore year project: "Two Smoking Shepherds". This was part of a sneak peek we released to get people excited and interest in our movie, but it was really just part of the opening scene. (Skip to 1:20 to start the scene)

Well, that was interesting.

Here are my observations:

GOOD STUFF:
-Awesome effects. We tried to do this opening like how Guy Ritchie did it in his movie "Snatch".

As you can see, the resemblance is uncanny. I think this is an awesome to open any film, and I am really tempted to recycle this method in my future skits, but I feel like that would be too frequent. We shall see.
-The music is catchy, and perfect.
-I personally this is one of the funniest scenes in the entire movie. It's also an excellent introduction of all characters.
-The editing is tight, and the angles are also quite perfect. Over all decent pixel and sound quality.

BAD STUFF:
-Language. A lot of swearing can be offensive and not ideal for the type of public screening I am going for. If I do swear in my skits, it will be censored for the show.

-Jokes. The jokes are very offensive to some people, and I swear I am not phobic of any race, religion, or sexualities. As you will see from future skits, our humor became more acceptable, sophisticated, and relied less on bashing and swearing, and more on originality.

What do you think? Leave me a comment, more scenes will be posted! If you want to view the entire movie (what we had finished, which was half way), Here is the link:

The password is happyinc. I must warn you, it has foul language and controversial jokes. Please take it all as a good humor, and for laughter. Enjoy.

The Odyssey.

Hello & welcome! Today is a special day, a special day indeed. This because, well, I announce my return to film. Two years ago, I embarked on a journey, with my friend, David Kaminsky. Together we formed Happy Inc., a comedy troupe, and we began to film a movie. The times were great, and the experience was thrilling, as you can probably tell from the photos below.

Oh, how the times were great. But, as you know, every chapter from your life must come to an end, for a new one to begin. With David Kaminsky and most of my cast going away to college, Happy Inc. had to end. That however, doesn't mean the end of a great chapter should mark the end of a great dream. This is why I have come before you to announce project. For my WISE project, I have decided to assemble a new comedy troupe, to continue making skits and spreading laughter and joy around the world. I will be teaming up with fellow filmmaker, Ian Dezelan, and other curious and promising individuals to meet my goals. Over the next 20 weeks, Me and my new group (The name is yet to be decided), shall plan, film, and eventually show our work. So I call upon you. My friends, family, or curious blog readers, to join me on my odyssey. Feel free to participate in my skits in any way possible, or if not, at least sit back and enjoy the show.
